legend & lore
Raised inside an Aetherion experiment facility, Caligo learned early that survival always came at a cost. When twelve-year-old Caligo devised their escape, it was seven-year-old Hikari who paid the price: losing his leg in the process. Caligo never forgave herself for failing to protect him.
In the aftermath, she forced Hikari into the safety of the Underground while she would venture above, guarding what little refuge they had carved out. Over the years, she became the Underground’s guardian angel. What was once a debris-filled space ruled by fear and brute strength slowly changed under her watch. Alone, she stood against those who sought control through intimidation, laying the foundation for the order, and eventual utopia, that Hamie would one day come to know.

from concept to card
Caligo was never meant to be a flawless warrior untouched by trauma. Survival leaves scars, and hers are carried in silence. Her loss of eyesight reflects the moment she refuses to face: the escape that saved them both and the cost Hikari paid for it. She moves forward without looking back, guided by instinct and resolve rather than sight.
The visor, designed and built by Hikari, allows her to function in her recon missions above ground and in everyday life below. Her design is rooted in practicality. Long, loose hair would be a liability, so it remains, without fail, tied back. Her suit is built for protection and mobility, fashion being a privilege reserved for the higher districts. It supports her unusual flexibility, a consequence of the experiments she endured, and reflects who she has become: disciplined and grounded, and shaped as much by guilt as by strength.
