Lira was born to inherit the Order. Firstborn, sharp-minded, and unmistakably her father’s, Alistair, spitting image, she was raised for the future they had always planned for. Impatient, brilliant, and uninterested in anything resembling a typical childhood, she embodied exactly what the Order believed power should look like. But what they never accounted for was her awareness.
Lira understood the Order early. From its insufferable superiority complex, its obsession with control and most of all, the way intelligence was valued only when it served the status quo.
Within their circles, she learned to be ruthless purely out of resentment. Every lesson sharpened her ability to survive them and every expectation clarified her refusal to become them. So when the opportunity arose, she disappeared.
Lira abandoned her title, erased her identity, and stepped outside the Order’s reach. In the shadows, she met Sam, who she founded the Respeculators with.
For years, they planned quietly, recruiting allies from places the Order considered untouchable. The Aetherion Order thought they were shaping a ruler, when all along they created the architect of their greatest threat.
